When is the Library open and where is it located?

Business hours are Monday through Thursday, 10:00am to 8:00 pm and Friday and Saturday, 10:00am to 5:00pm.

The library is located at 7150 La Palma Ave. in Buena Park, California. The library is on the South side of La Palma Ave. between Knott Ave. and Western Ave.  Free parking is available in a dedicated library parking lot.

Does the Library have passport services and when is the passport office open?

How do I get a library card?

California residents may get a free library card by visiting the check-out desk in the library, filling out a short application, and presenting a California Driver’s License or Identification Card, a Matricula Consular card or similar official ID.  Children under the age of 18 can receive their own library card with parental consent and identification. You may also pre-register for a library card online using the link below and pick up your card in person at the check-out desk within 6 months.

What can I do with a library card?

In addition to checking out books, CDs, DVDs (with an adult card), audiobooks, and ukuleles, the Library offers online resources that are free to use with your library card. These resources include Overdrive/Libby, Hoopla, RBDigtal, Tumblebooks, and all our online databases

 

Does the library have computers, Wi-Fi, or printing?

The library has public desktop computers. Free wireless internet access is available inside the library and extends out to the parking lot. Documents can be printed from our public computers. Printing is $.20 per page for black and white prints and $.50 per page for color. Unfortunately, wireless printing is not available.

 

What programs are on the library’s public computers?

Our public computers feature Edge, Chrome, and Firefox Web browsers and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

 

Does the library offer scanning, copying or faxing services?

The Library has a free scanner that can be used to scan documents. Scanned documents can be saved to a USB drive or sent to an email address.

Black and white photocopying is available for $.20 a page.

Faxing services are available at the check-out desk. The Library offers a free cover sheet and charges $1 per page for each additional faxed page.


Does the library accept book donations?

The Library is not accepting donations at this time.


What is your check-out policy?

There is a 5 item limit for the first 60 days of opening your library card account. Your item limit will gradually increase to a maximum of 35 items.  Books, audiobooks, and music CDs check out for 3 weeks at a time. DVDs check out for one week at a time. Items can be renewed up to 10 times if there is no waiting list for the item.

 

What is the fine for an overdue item?

There are no fines for overdue items.  We ask that you return items promptly so others may enjoy them. If an item is not returned, you will receive an overdue notice 3 days after the due date and again 10 days and 21 days after the due date. If an item is not returned 45 days after the due date, a bill will be sent and the account will be blocked from checking out more materials until lost item(s) have been addressed. Lost items are charged the replacement cost of the item plus a $5.00 non-refundable processing fee for each item. They are removed from the account if the item(s) are returned. If you have paid for a lost item, a refund will be issued if the material is returned to the Circulation Desk in good condition within six months of payment date.

 

How do I return library materials?

Library materials may be returned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through the return slot adjacent to the library entrance. Materials may also be returned inside the library during business hours.

 

Does the Library have rooms for rent?

The Library is currently renting out meeting rooms.  Please visit our Meeting Room page for more information.

 

What kinds of programs does the Library offer for the community?

The Library offers fun and educational programs for children, teens, and adults. Please see our events calendar for information about our ongoing programs and special events. The library also offers take-home craft kits for kids, teens, and adults. Availability is limited, please follow our social media for more details.


Does the Library have materials in languages other than English?

Yes, the Library offers adult level materials in Korean and Spanish. We also have a small collection of adult books in Hindi and Gujarati. Our children’s collection contains story books in Arabic, Korean, Hindi, Gujarati, and Spanish.
